The focus plane is in your control

As shown in the left image below, there is no difference between the lens and a regular 50mm f1.4 lens when the tilt function is not used. At a large aperture, only part of the ducks are in focus and the rest of the image is bokeh. As shown in the right image below, after using the tilt function and without changing the aperture, the focal plane is parallel to the sides of the three ducks, so all three ducks can be photographed clearly.

Partial focus function

When taking pictures, we often encounter the need to only clarify certain areas and blur others. For example, for a happy cat, if you want its face to be bright and its body to be blurred. If a regular lens is used, since the face and torso are in the same focal plane, the face and torso will remain clear at the same time. However, using a tilt lens can fulfill this need without changing the aperture and make the photos more artistic.

Tilt mechanism

A mechanism that tilts the front of the lens left and right. (multiple tilt angles can be achieved with the rotary mechanism). Through this mechanism, the angle between the focal plane and the CMOS plane can be changed.

Rotary mechanism

When used in conjunction with the tilting mechanism, the focus can be shifted. (The maximum rotation angle of the rotary mechanism is 90 degrees). The swivel mechanism is marked every 15 degrees from 0 to 90 degrees and has an end point that allows for more precise angle control.

Vignetting status

When tilted, the vignetting on one side increases, which is a common situation with a tilting lens.

Two results for one

A flip-up lens can be simply understood as: a conventional lens with a large imaging circle combined with a flip-up mechanism becomes a flip-up lens. So when the tilt angle is 0 degrees, it is a regular 50mm f1.4 wide aperture lens that can be used for normal portraits, humanities, sketches and other subjects. In addition, the optical performance is also more guaranteed. Because in the normal state, only the middle part of the large image circle is used.

Video-specific optimization: The video clip from the “Lilliput” perspective is new and fun. For more comfortable and professional video shooting, the lens has been specially optimized – the focus ring and aperture ring are designed to fit most focus trackers in line with the film lens.
F1.4 Large Aperture: A large aperture lens delivers valuable light at reduced ISO for a more transparent image. And this beautiful blur provides refreshing visual effects, which together with the tilt function brings the “Lilliput” effect.
